After the death of his wife, Godfrey Crump and his daughters move from the Deep South to Brooklyn, where his free-spirited sister-in-law joins them. Tension grows in this African-American family when Godfrey disappears and then returns home married to a German immigrant. Seen through the eyes of the eldest daughter, CRUMBS FROM THE TABLE OF JOY is a tender, funny and compassionate look at growing up in the 1950s in a most unusual household.
