Derek is a native of Jamaica, Queens, NY and is making his debut with Triad Stage this season. Over the years, Derek has worked on multiple productions as a sound designer, audio engineer, and composer, holding an M.F.A. in Sound Design from Ohio University’s School of Dance, Film, and Theater. Since obtaining his degree in 2015, he has designed sound for Dobama Theatre, North Street Playhouse, and Karamu House on An Octoroon, Edgar: I Nothing Am, and Believe in Cleveland, respectively. Derek’s previous sound design credits include Dauphin Island (World Premiere), Living the Dream: A Combat Concert, Gruesome Playground Injuries,and Crooked. He has also served as a sound design assistant on the world premieres of Family Album (Stew and Heidi Rodewald)and The Great Society (Robert Schenkkan) at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (2014), and supervised sound for The Lost Colony (2015).
