Parking

Parking is free on weekends and after 6:00 p.m. on weeknights in the Greene Street Parking Deck at 211 South Greene Street, adjacent to the rear of Triad Stage’s building, The Pyrle Theater. Enter the deck from either West Washington Street or South Greene Street.

A covered walkway on Level C of the Parking Deck leads directly to our rear entrance. The rear entrance door unlocks one hour prior to curtain time and automatically locks again 20 minutes after the show starts. The rear entrance is not handicapped accessible.

***Parking Update as of August 1, 2009***
Beginning August 1, a Ticket Retrieval System will be implemented at all downtown parking decks. Currently, downtown decks raise the gates at 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, and all day on Saturday and Sunday to allow customers to enter free of charge. This method doesn’t allow the City’s Parking Operations to keep an accurate count of customer usage after hours.

With the new Ticket Retrieval System, customers can still enter for free but they will have to take a ticket from the ticket dispenser before the gate will raise, allowing them to enter. When customers exit, they will need to deposit the ticket into the Ticket Retrieval System at the main exit. If the ticket is lost, it will require a $1 deposit into the Ticket Retrieval System to exit.

This will be a big change for nighttime users and venues in downtown. All patrons to downtown during the evening and late night hours need to be aware of these changes when they use City-owned parking decks.

The following directions are to the Greene Street Parking Deck at 211 South Greene Street, located directly behind Triad Stage’s building – The Pyrle Theatre.

From Winston-Salem and the West of Greensboro:
Take I-40 East to Business I-40 East. Continue east on Business I-40 East to exit 218B (Freeman Mill Road/US-220 North). Follow Freeman Mill Road all the way into Downtown, which is about 3 miles. Turn right at West Washington Street (it will be the first stoplight you get to when you approach Downtown). Continue eastbound through the South Eugene Street and South Greene Street stoplights. After you go through the South Greene Street light, turn left into the Greene Street Parking Deck. Go up to level C and there will be a covered walkway that leads into the back of our building.

From the East of Greensboro using I-40/I-85 (Burlington and Chapel Hill/Durham/Raleigh):
Take I-40/I-85 West to Business I-40 West. Continue west on Business I-40 West to exit 41 and go right at the bottom of the off ramp onto East Lee Street/State Route 6. Go west on East Lee Street for three miles to South Elm Street and turn right at the light onto South Elm Street. Continue north on South Elm Street for almost half a mile and turn left onto West Washington Street. The entrance into the Greene Street Parking Deck is on the right.

From US 29 South, Reidsville, Danville and North:
Take US-29 South and exit onto Summit Avenue towards Downtown Greensboro. Stay to the right. Continue on Summit Avenue for 2 miles (Summit Avenue becomes Bellemeade Street at North Elm Street), then straight onto Bellemeade Street. Turn left onto North Greene Street. Take Greene Street south half a mile to the Greene Street Parking Deck at 211 South Greene Street. The entrance is on the left before you get to Washington Street.
 
From North of Greensboro using US-220 (Summerfield, Stokesdale, NC; Martinsville, VA):
Take US-220 South towards Downtown Greensboro (US-220 becomes Battleground Avenue).  Continue on Battleground Avenue south as it becomes West Smith Street. Turn right onto North Greene Street. Take Greene Street south half a mile to the Greene Street Parking Deck at 211 South Greene Street. The entrance is on the left before you get to Washington Street.

From Charlotte, High Point, Thomasville and South:
Take I-85 North to Business I-85 North/US-29 North/US-70 East towards Downtown Greensboro. Get off at Exit 35B (Freeman Mill Road/US-220 North) and continue north into Downtown. Make a right onto West Washington Street and go 4 blocks east, past South Greene Street. The entrance into the Greene Street Parking Deck is on the left.

From Asheboro:
Take US 220 North/Freeman Mills Road into Downtown and make a right onto West Washington Street. Take West Washington Street 4 blocks east, past South Greene Street. The entrance into the Greene Street Parking Deck is on the left.

From the Piedmont Triad International Airport and Joseph M. Bryan Boulevard:
Take Bryan Boulevard east into Downtown Greensboro (Bryan Boulevard becomes Benjamin Parkway, then West Smith Street) and turn right onto North Greene Street. Take Greene Street south half a mile to the Greene Street Parking Deck at 211 South Greene Street. The entrance is on the left before you get to Washington Street.
