Bring the kids out to Around the World Day at Triad Stage, Saturday, February 20
Free activities for children and mini-performances from cultures around the world
(Greensboro, NC) —It’s fun for the whole family as Triad Stage hosts Around the World Day, a free event for young children and their parents on Saturday, February 20, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm in celebration of the production Around the World in 80 Days, performing February 7 – March 7, 2010.
Among the Around the World Day activities are mehndi hand-painting, mask-making, passport creation and postcard designing. Local author/illustrator Jim Young will create a child-sized photo cutout for kids who want their picture taken while riding a cartoon elephant. City Arts will construct a large train engine for kids to decorate and ArtQuest will be on hand to help make paper hats. Each child will receive a small globe souvenir. Throughout the event, there will be performances in the MainStage Theater from various cultural groups and demonstrations of the theater magic used in Around the World in 80 Days.
There will be a 2:00 pm matinee performance of Around the World in 80 Days following the event. Due to the 2+ hour running time, the production is not recommended for children under the age of 6.
Around the World Day is at Triad Stage’s Pylre Theater, 232 South Elm Street in downtown Greensboro, and is presented with City Arts, the Greenboro Public Library, Greenhill/ArtQuest, the Greensboro Children’s Museum and UNCG Theatre Department.
