Dr. Jenny Pyke

Jenny Pyke is an assistant teaching professor in the department of English at Wake Forest University, specializing in Victorian literature and culture.  She has published essays on Charles Dickens, on Victorian taxidermy, on television adaptations of  Jack the Ripper and Sherlock Holmes, and on cartography in Scottish literature, and has given talks nationally and internationally on sensation and sympathy in Victorian literature.  Dr. Pyke's teaching includes courses on the Gothic, Sherlock Holmes, and the Victorian fascination with mermaids.  She is completing a book manuscript titled,“That Involuntary, Palpitating Life”: Victorian Stillness.
