For Emerging Professionals

Triad Stage offers a season-long (mid-August to mid-May) apprenticeship program for aspiring theater professionals. Apprentices work alongside our professional staff, developing both practical skills and professional relationships that serve as a solid foundation for a career in theater. Apprentices receive a stipend and housing in Greensboro.

In past seasons, areas for apprenticeships have included:

  • Administrative/marketing
  • Scenery
  • Paint
  • Costumes
  • Sound
  • Electrics
  • Props
  • Artistic
  • Stage Management
  • Production Management

More information about apprentice positions available for the 2018-2019 season will be posted in January 2018 and the deadline will be in early March. We will be attending SETC and will conduct in-person interviews for apprentice candidates at that time. You do not, however, have to be present at SETC to be considered for an apprenticeship.

We've worked with multiple area universities and colleges including the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, North Carolina A&T, and Greensboro College to provide new curricular opportunities on and off stage, as well as a bridge to the theater profession for aspiring theater artists.

Some elements of our university partnership programs include:

  • Casting of undergraduate students in MainStage productions
  • Classes in directing, stage management, and arts management taught by Triad Stage staff members
  • Hiring current college students as assistant stage managers and technical theater interns
  • Hiring current university professors as designers for MainStage productions
